| This month’s paint-out takes place on a spectacular 300-acre farm in Mebane. The farm was established in 1798 and is listed on the National Historic Register. It is the original site for Cates Pickles where pickles were packed in barrels, loaded onto wagons and hauled to the train station to be sent out on steam locomotives. Although Cates Pickles is no longer located on this site, the original building still stands. |
This sprawling, gorgeous land is dotted with wonderful barns, including a horse barn, a milking barn, silos, and a
chicken house (which is currently being converted into a guest house). An assortment of out-buildings surround a
stately renovated 18th century home. The property includes a stream, ponds and huge blooming magnolia trees.
Eighteen head of Black Angus and Holstein cows, 17 calves, chickens and a goat all grace this magnificent setting.
We will drive you all around the property to give you the opportunity to pick your painting spot.
